Eric Adams Will Never Be MAGA: Why The Scoundrel of NYC Deserves No Pardon and No Mercy

We know Adams by the fruits of what his administration has produced, and those fruits are indeed very rotten.

It can be seductive to rally around individuals who are under investigation and facing charges from the corrupt system after what has happened to President Trump over the past eight years.

However, there actually are individuals who are engaged in criminality that deserve to be prosecuted and thrown behind bars for betraying the public.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams is a great example of a man who does not deserve one iota of sympathy from Republicans for the predicament that he is in.

Adams was indicted in Sept. 2024 on public corruption felony charges spanning a decade, stemming from kickbacks he received to influence his decision-making when he was a Brooklyn Borough president. Damian Williams, the US attorney for the Southern District of New York, stated that Adams “engaged in a long-running conspiracy” where he was taking contributions from Turkish foreign agents “even though he knew they were illegal." These illegal campaign contributions are believed to be in excess of $10 million. In news that should come as a shock to no one, Adams was for sale and open to pay-to-play schemes to enrich himself and further his ambitions.

“As alleged, Mayor Adams abused his position as this City’s highest elected official, and before that as Brooklyn Borough President, to take bribes and solicit illegal campaign contributions. By allegedly taking improper and illegal benefits from foreign nationals—including to allow a Manhattan skyscraper to open without a fire inspection—Adams put the interests of his benefactors, including a foreign official, above those of his constituents. This Office and our partners at the FBI and DOI will continue to pursue corruption anywhere in this City, especially when that corruption takes the form of illegal foreign influence on our democratic system,” said U.S. Attorney Williams.

Adams leadership style has bled down through the ranks of city government. Adams’ Police Commissioner resigned in disgrace after it was discovered by the FBI that his twin brother was running a protection racket on restaurants and nightclubs, threatening them with retribution from the New York City Police Department and New York City Code Enforcement if they didn’t pay up. Adams’ Fire Commissioner had to resign after she attempted to purge veteran white males from the fire department. Adams’ School Chancellor resigned after his cell phone was seized in a federal raid. The NYC Sheriff’s office is under investigation for allegedly pilfering money seized from a network of illegal cannabis shops.

We know Adams by the fruits of what his administration has produced, and those fruits are indeed very rotten. Adams has assembled an all-star roster of hoodlums, fraudsters, crooks, wokesters, malcontents and lowlifes to serve under him. With Adams as head honcho, they felt they had a mandate to rob the people and abuse their authority. Unfortunately for them, Adams was extremely arrogant and did a very poor job at covering his tracks. Now, the house of sand is crumbling for these people, and Adams’ last chance is to play the victim card and hope for mercy for President Trump.

Adams is incredibly desperate as he circles the drains barely keeping his leadership façade together. He might even pull a Biden and put on a MAGA hat in the upcoming weeks because this shameless lout would do anything to stay out of jail. A reflexive reaction might be to claim that Adams’ convenient ‘180 is evidence that the MAGA movement is changing hearts and minds. In reality, Adams’ self-motivated posturing is the byproduct of MAGA changing hearts and minds. Because MAGA is popular and ascending and President Trump has a sweeping mandate for nationwide change, Adams is currying favor because it is his ticket to a pardon and rehabilitation of his political career.

Adams is not worthy of rehabilitation. He was elected mayor running on his support of sanctuary cities. He is not a mere victim of the migrant crisis; this is the leader who helped usher it in. Adams is not a helpless passive observer to the hellish crime wave across New York City; this is the man whose derelict leadership has allowed this to happen. As a rash of heinous crimes taking place on the NYC Subway system, including an arson where a woman was burned to death on a train, the tone-deaf Adams had the audacity to celebrate a supposed reduction of crime on the subways. He declared last year that “our transit system is the safest it's been in 14 years, with the lowest number of robberies in recorded history” in a slap to the face of all sentient residents of New York City.

The successful prosecution of Adams and his removal as Mayor would pave the way for a strong, law-and-order Mayor to rise in the example of Rudy Giuliani. Adams continuing as Mayor, with a pardon from Trump that he could spin into a de facto endorsement of sorts, would continue the city’s descent into calamity, putting the city in constant peril with his boneheaded and irresponsible decisions. Adams would also continue to be on the take, perhaps believing he is untouchable because he was able to skirt by with no repercussions on so many different acts. In short, a pardon of Adams would be a major setback for a Republican Party in New York that is on the verge of seriously competing in elections in every area across the state.

With Trump’s successful political comeback and well-earned surge in popularity, there will be no shortage of Democrat scoundrels who attempt to grovel at Trump’s feet begging for relevance and favor. It is one thing for a sincere liberal like Tulsi Gabbard or RFK Jr. with principled stances on important issues to become a Republican because of Trump changing the DNA of the Party, it is another for a lowlife like Eric Adams to subvert the MAGA movement because it is his only chance to avoid the repercussions for his criminal behavior.

If the feds are going after the worst of what the Democrat Party has to offer, this is not a process that should be stopped. If the Democrats are cannibalizing each other, we should just grab some popcorn and watch it happen. Never interrupt your enemy while they are making a mistake. The more Democrats who go down in a ball of flames as Trump ascends to the throne of the Presidency, the better.
