Not only honest reporting of the facts and exact quotes, but these reporters and journalists must behave respectfully and civil. Many are very rude and nasty. Horrible behavior. The President has the power to ban them and any person who behaves in an uncivil and crude manner.
Had Trump attempted to shut down CNN and MSxxx, that would be a violation of the First Amendment, but he did no such thing. They are still free to operate. Many other news organizations have no access to the White House, so why are they entitled to such access? This seems like a no-brainer to me, but it is alarming how confused so many are about what Freedom of Speech actually means.
A press credential doesn’t give its holder unrestricted access to the president. Government control of the premises doesn’t 100% settle how officials may distribute access, but the Leftist press won't tell you that it MOSTLY covers these issues. Why? Because their opponent is TRUMP. The Sherrill specifically addresses White House credentials and prohibits ARBITRARY or content-based criteria. That is not present here. There are real, TRUE AND FALSE, reasons for the expulsion of several outlets. Here is a devastating short list:
-Trump–Russia reporting: Coverage of alleged collusion as promoting a “Russia hoax.”
-Hunter Biden’s laptop: Coverage presenting the laptop controversy as Russian disinformation.
-COVID-19 origins: Outlets helped to suppress scrutiny of the laboratory-origin hypothesis and Anthony Fauci.
-Trump’s impeachments: Networks acted as participants against Trump rather than independent observers.
-Negative coverage overall: Media Research Center reported that 92% of evaluative statements about Trump’s second administration were negative during its first 100 days.
Precedent also requires notice, an opportunity to respond, and a written decision explaining the denial. No one took away the outlets' right to appeal. They can. And if they show us that COVID actually began in a wet market, then they can get their press passes back!
