I disagree with the article's opinion on aliens and Hollywood movies. In most cases, Hollywood has dealt with aliens as malevolent creatures bent on destroying mankind ("War of the Worlds"), eating them as food ("To Serve Man", an original Twilight Zone episode), and otherwise upending all the good things in life.
But most of the time, humans succeed in getting rid of the aliens, one way or another. For example, in one clever and funny Hollywood take on the alien invasion, simply playing some good old country music for all to hear did the trick and permanently rid the world of the pests ("Mars Attacks").
However, sometimes the aliens have a benevolent message to convey to Earthlings, and those movies are really disguised anti-war movies. I'm thinking, for example, of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (either the original classic or the remake).
Neither of these two thematic approaches to alien invasion movies attacks Christianity or Judaism. And if Spielberg's latest picture does attempt to do so, that will be merely another reason why Spielberg's stuff will be another Hollywood box office dud.
IMO the so-called "aliens" is a cover for MKUltra and similar govt programs which experimented on American citizens conveniently living within or close to military bases...the advanced technology has been developed by Nazi scientists which NASA etc tries to cover up even with Werner Von Braun at its head when he should have been in prison.
The end of "Close Encounters" was not thrilling but chilling...how do you allow a child of 3 or 4 to go onto an "alien spaceship" as a parent and think that's ok? Pedophile much?
Humans have been on lush water worlds orbiting nearby stars including the sun, Alpha-Centauri, Sirius, Procyon, the Pleiades, and more, for HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS. We are part of a massive, and ancient, family.
plenty of evil in Hollywood

Aliens, terrestrial or sidereal, don’t belong in America—thanks for this thorough rebuttal of the naive Spielberg crowd!
