In Defense of Tucker Carlson
Tucker Carlson is under attack on social media in a seemingly concerted effort to tarnish the independent news icon’s reputation.
Tucker Carlson is under attack on social media in a seemingly concerted effort to tarnish the independent news icon’s reputation. Two of the things Carlson’s critics have seized upon are his appearance in a recent promotional video for Saudi Arabia and out-of-context snippets from recent interviews regarding his positions on Qatar and Israel.
The idea pushed by the critics is that Carlson is jeopardized and not sufficiently patriotic. These sort of attacks would have resonated in the post-9/11 Bush age when people who questioned the conventional political wisdom were “with the terrorists.” Nowadays, these attacks are laughable and resonate with virtually no one.
If the attacks are ineffective, why are they being launched? The answer is sheer desperation. Carlson is growing rapidly in popularity because he will host individuals with heterodox opinions on current affairs and different events. He will have an informed discussion with them, sharing perspectives that listeners may have never considered, and the listener finds these exchanges to be exhilarating.
Infowars founder Alex Jones recently appeared on Carlson’s show where Carlson gave effusive praise to Jones for his unparalleled decades-long record of honesty and accuracy in the news arena. Carlson also interviewed revisionist historian Darryl Cooper and renowned critic of U.S. foreign policy Jeff Sachs, having discussions well outside of the bounds of thought that has constrained conservatism. This content produced by Carlson reached many millions of people across multiple platforms.
The next generation of conservatives have a demand for this sort of content, and nobody delivers it better than Carlson. They are sick of the neocon slop delivered to them by Fox News and the strain of conservatism that has conserved nothing for generations. Gen X, millennial and Gen Z conservative opinion is being shaped by the likes of Carlson, and they are suspicious of elite-approved narratives.
Carlson visiting and talking favorably of Saudi Arabia or interviewing world leaders such as Russian President Vladimir Putin or Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani of Qatar is a plus in the new media landscape. Attempting to cancel Carlson because of his willingness to broach viewpoints that are typically verboten in the mainstream media only exposes the attackers as a Fifth Column working to undermine right-wing unity.
The chorus of rage against Carlson is coming from the usual suspects. It is not a coincidence that many of the accounts attacking Carlson also happen to be part of the pro-DeSantis social media mob. The same people denigrating Carlson are covering up the illicit $10 million dollar bilking of Medicaid funds by Casey DeSantis’ Hope Florida nonprofit for an anti-cannabis slush fund controlled by DeSantis’ Attorney General.
Neocon talking heads like Ben Shapiro are also lobbing attacks at Carlson, similar to the way the military-industrial complex lobs bombs at innocent targets for corporate profits. This is par for the course. Carlson was deplatformed from Fox News because his immense success and reach threatened the globalist narrative. Meanwhile, Shapiro was gifted a massive platform by Facebook and permitted to gain an immense market share because his competitors were put out of commission. The Big Tech gatekeepers anointed Shapiro as their controlled opposition.
As soon as the gatekeeper complex was shattered by Elon Musk’s acquisition of X, Shapiro’s empire immediately began to collapse. With competition opened up, suddenly Shapiro’s Daily Wire seemed lame by comparison. Authentic stars on the network like Brett Cooper and Candace Owens were no longer held hostage to the platform, departed and immediately flourished. As a result, Shapiro’s outlet is announcing massive layoffs amidst allegations of imminent bankruptcy. Shapiro’s pathetic attacks on Carlson are his last gasp efforts to survive in a media landscape that is no longer slanted in his favor.
As Shapiro’s grandiose ambitions of running a media empire come to a screeching halt, Carlson continues to dominate. As Carlson pushes the bounds of discourse, Shapiro interviews Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for a propaganda piece meant to spur more military aid to buoy Zelenskyy’s futile efforts to keep dictatorial power. It could not be more obvious that Carlson represents the new vanguard of independent media while Shapiro is one of the last vestiges of a dying, moss-covered ecosystem that is completely irrelevant to non-Baby Boomers.
The attacks on Carlson are ramping up during a simultaneous media fallout over podcaster Joe Rogan’s platforming of supposedly disreputable people. Rogan recently hosted a debate on the Israel/Palestine conflict between libertarian comedian Dave Smith and neoconservative pundit Douglas Murray stirred controversy as Murray demanded that Rogan play the role of gatekeeper on his platform. When Murray’s pious nannying attempt failed, Shapiro employee Jordan Peterson ran the same thought-policing campaign on Rogan’s podcast only with a lighter touch.
Rogan and Carlson have many ideological differences, but they are united on one issue: skepticism of the War Machine. At a time when there is a major push for War in Iran, these independent voices are causing major problems for the foreign policy establishment. This makes them worth their weight in gold, and Carlson’s keen understanding of the America First ideology puts him in a league of his own. He is the commentator with the most promise to elevate public consciousness and create irreparable fissures in the foundation of globalism.
Tucker Carlson is a good brave man, thanks for sticking by him
You have said it well! Thank you
