Bob Strauss knew football scout and businessman George Owen, the first husband of Maureen Dean. Maureen was a stewardess for American Airlines and worked the Dallas to Phoenix run. “Mo” had a rich boyfriend in Arizona for a time. Strauss owned at least one radio station in Arizona as part of his Strauss Broadcasting network. In a very interesting interview w Len Colodny, George Owen casually referred to Strauss and Cowboys owner Clint Murchison wrt to Owen’s ties to mystery lady Maureen Dean that surfaced in a Maxine Cheshire column. In the interview w Colodny, Owen refers to lobbyist/fixer/bagman Irv Davidson in a scheme to influence John Dean wrt to the Jimmy Hoffa pardon.

The evidence is overwhelming that Dean ordered the break-ins, launched the coverup, destroyed and manufactured evidence, paid off Hunt and Lou Russell, used Heidi and her girls to get political dirt etc, As early as July 7, 1972 in a NYT Tad Szulc piece, Howard Hunt requested assistance from Dean. Somehow nobody picked up on that item. The funds embezzled from the WH polling fund matched payments to Lou Russell who was then living high and wide w Heidi Rikan in a Nesline owned Penthouse. Recently I came across an oral history by WH Fellow David Miller:

***

Q: Today is February 3, 2003. In 1971 you had been with the Fellows Program in the White House. Whither?

MILLER: Well, there is a story as to why I went then. I was working half time for John Dean and half time as the director of the Fellows Program because they didn't really need me

to do that full-time. I had known John at the Justice Department before he moved over

to be White House Counsel. The seminal event in my departure from the White House came when John Dean asked me if I would set up a safe house here in Washington for

the use of the President. I asked John why we needed to do that. He said, “Well, the President might have meetings with people that would be completely off the record and so on,” which seemed understandable. Then I said, “Well, you know, the CIA does this for a living. There is no reason to have me involved in anything like this.” John said, “Well, the President doesn't want the CIA involved. He wants this to be a completely covert White House operation.” I knew at that point that I was going to have to leave.

It is obvious, like so much of what Dean did, that he invoked Nixon or the name of a superior to get somebody to do his dirty work. This incident w Miller was right around the time Dean ordered Tony Ulasiwicz to case the DNC and shortly after he met with Liddy to develop an Intel plan. Dean was likely the figure who got the NY bachelor pad safe house established as mentioned in various accounts. And the Xaviera Hollander scandal erupted around that time.
