He was a longtime Bill Clinton buddy from their Rhodes Scholar days; his wife, Derek Shearer's sister (also Cody Shearer's, and he circulated a dossier, too) was Hillary's confidant for years. Talbott was the longtime Director of the Brookings Institution, a major DC think tank, and that was the place where "Iggy" "worked." Another Russian expert working there was British-born Fiona Hill who got to visit the Trump White House as a foreign policy advisor during DJT's first term when the first impeachment was delivered.
Here's the creepy part. I personally knew ST's family. His mother had very dark hair and eyes and pale skin, and this appearance shows up in ST's two sons. His wife Brooke (passed c. 2013) looked the same; Fiona Hill could be a sister, same striking appearance. ST remarried a few years' ago to a woman, a poet, from NY and I believe they are living in one of the Hamptons on Long Island. Yale U. had an event honoring Strobe last fall for his foreign policy work in globalization. I read the article in the alumni magazine and it stated that there was a good turnout of those who appreciated ST's help in their foreign policy careers; the report also mentioned that he was "present" in the auditorium that day but gave no remarks. Former President GWBush, who was in the same class at Yale, had no comment. This makes me think that Talbott's physically in bad shape. Funny thing is that "W" also shared a several-generations family attachment to Yale, but that he had actually been tapped for senior society Skull & Bones, but no tap for Talbott. He had made an earlier end-run around the secret society process by joining a fraternity early in his college career that considered itself at some level, such a group. My take is that he did not wish to reveal any innermost secrets to his "15 Best"! Or perhaps afraid of not being invited . . . .
Just remembered something else that's strange: despite being renowned as Editor of the Yale Daily News, the oldest college newspaper (I'm pretty sure;-) and spoken about by those outside the university with some awe, he did NOT have a senior picture or bio write-up in the Class of 1968 yearbook, even though he was chosen by the faculty to receive the Alpheus Henry Snow award at graduation. Nada. The name is listed in some of the academic clubs or organizations, and there are photos in the back of the book of latecomers who neglected to prepare biographical entries on time. One poor fool has ST's name under HIS picture. Sneaky sneaky he was and is. So please, tie him into the Russian Collusion/Oxferd nonsense inquiry going forward.
