I used to wear a tie everyday while attending high school in the 70s, I was mocked for awhile, but it was eventually excepted. I wore a tie because I wanted the teachers and students to know I was serious about learning. I carried that traditional in my 45 years in corporate business.
I also was in school during the same time. The guy that was labeled in our senior year book as the best dressed guy wore a tie a lot.
First job I got at 16 years old was for a janitor. My Dad told me to wear a suit and tie to the interview so they would know I was going to be a professional janitor.
Now I really know what they mean by, the good old days !!!
